Car people are good people

Random thoughts about our hobby.

Car people are good people.

The 70s muscle cars are hot, hot, hot.

I believe if you have owned your car for at least 18-24 months you’ve seen a 15-20% increase in the value of your car.

Restorations and upgrades are occurring in dramatic numbers. Parts warehouses are empty, vendors are busting their butts trying to keep up/catch up with demand, and orders keep pouring in.

While I wouldn’t have said this two years ago, I believe currently it is more economical to build a car than buy a complete car.

The purists are being outnumbered. The availability of high quality upgrade parts, LS engines, suspension, and electronics has made it so these bits are creeping into more and more of our cars. I’m seeing fewer and fewer requests for “numbers matching” type parts as compared to “upgrade” parts. Fewer customers are telling me they want to keep their car factory original.

Skilled labor is a fading art. Folks willing to do full paintjobs, metal work, restorations, even minor repairs/upgrades are becoming harder and harder to find. The good reputable shops are booked out for years.

There is no one way or right way to build your car. It’s your car. Build it how you want. Build it and enjoy it. Doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

Have fun. Enjoy the hobby. Take part in car events. Get to know your fellow hobbyists. Teach a kid about your car. Life is short, so enjoy the ride.
