Ashwin’s Ride

I live in Juneau, Alaska. I'd been looking for a 77 T/A for over a year, when I saw my car advertised in Prineville Oregon, with 65K original miles in 2016. I contacted the seller, who returned my call later, and asked me about the (907) area code (AK). Turns out, he was managing his dads ranch out there, and his dad had spent most of his life in AK as an influential lawyer who helped with the native Alaskan corporations back in the day when they were formed. The AK connection helped, since I couldn't head over there and the seller agreed to take it to an appraiser he knew, and I was okay with that. After I purchased the car, he let me know that the day I called, he had 2 others show up with cash in hand, but he decided to take a chance on holding the car for me even though we hadn't agreed on anything, because of the AK connection. Luck I guess! Also, the seller had been wanting to head back to Alaska, and moved back last year. We're still friends and stay in touch.

The 1st pic is cool because that was taken on the Memorial Day weekend, 2017, the 40th anniversary of Smokey and the Bandit. JPD always has a mobile post way out on the highway by the beach to maintain a presence. I drove by and started chatting with the officer there who really likes classics, especially T/A's. Since it was the 40th anniversary, I asked if I could get a pic in front the cruiser. He not only agreed, but turned on the lights for the pic. Unfortunately, that was before I had the "BLOCKR" plate I do now.
